Activities this Week

It’s the last week before the winter holidays really kick off, so come by the Greenbelt MakerSpace to enjoy the calm before the storm.

We have a full week of meetings, classes and activities, starting with Coder Dojo on Tuesday. As always, Coder Dojo for kids is from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Coder Dojo for adults is from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. No coding knowledge or experience necessary!

On Wednesday, Team 2 will have a First Lego League meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you’re interested, check out firstlegoleague.org for more information or just stop in. It’s not too late to join! Knit (and other Fibery Pursuits) will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Now is the perfect chance to finish (or start) those knit, crocheted and felted goodies for family members you’ll be seeing next week.

On Thursday, students who need help writing application essays or midterm papers will find it at MakerSpace from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Bring by any writing assignment for help from an experienced essay tutor. First Lego League Team 3 will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., MakeWrite– the MakerSpace writers’ group– will meet to exchange ideas, support, and constructive criticism. All are welcome, especially NaNoWriMo participants!

Friday will see the monthly meeting of the Fermentation Fan Club from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Come by to learn about the craft of beer brewing!

Saturday will have Coder Dojo for kids as usual from 10 a.m. to noon, and First Lego League Team 4 will meet from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

On Sunday, teaching artist Mary Ann Lipovsky will be teaching her twice-monthly watercolors class from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A small donation to pay for supplies and the instructor is requested.

Take a break from baking pies and brining the turkey, and stop in at Club 125, the Greenbelt MakerSpace!
