FLL is an after-school program for kids 9-14. The program runs from now until December when competition tournaments start. Teams that do well will advance to the state championships in February and perhaps, if they are well prepared and enthusiastic, to the world championships in April. But the kids will learn along the way that what they discover is more important that what they win (FLL core value #5).
FLL has three major components, the robot game, the project, and core values. This year the project is to develop an innovative solution to a problem related to trash. Either to reduce making it, or to handle it better once it exists.
Teams will meet once a week until November, then twice a week to make final preparations for the regional competition event. Parents are encouraged to be involved, and assistant coaching positions are open for most teams. No experience necessary.
To begin the process of joining a team at the MakerSpace, complete the form below. If you would like to form or join a team at another location, use our contact form to request help. If you have kids ages 6 to 9, we will have Jr FLL teams forming in October.
