Several people have expressed interest in forming an amateur radio (HAM) club at the MakerSpace. We now have a volunteer, Randy, ready to lead regular meetings starting Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7:30pm. Sign up below…
Perhaps the most valuable activity of our new club will be to help newbies, like me, get licensed. Randy wants to emphasize that learning Morse code, while it may be fun, is no longer required! For both kids and adults, there is no age limit on FCC licenses.
[gravityform id=”23″ title=”true” description=”true”]The Technician class license is the entry-level license of choice for most new ham radio operators. To earn the Technician license requires passing one examination totaling 35 questions on radio theory, regulations and operating practices. The license gives access to all Amateur Radio frequencies above 30 megahertz, allowing these licensees the ability to communicate locally and most often within North America. – http://www.arrl.org/getting-licensed
